The rock village
On the south side of the village there is a system of caves connected by stairs carved into the rock. They are the most characteristic and scenic part of the rock site. The caves are currently presented as dwellings, obtained from the expansion of previous environments. These were originally tombs dating back to the Bronze Age. Their transformation dates back to the eighteenth century, when the demographic increase required the construction of new homes. Only some of them still host families. Most of them are abandoned or used as storage rooms or warehouses. The municipality has recently purchased some of them to rebuild the typical peasant houses, often consisting of one or at most two rooms, a kitchen with an oven and a bedroom. Outside there are visible holes dug in the sandstone to which the mounts were secured.
